Summary

INTER-OP is currently seeking an Aircraft Mechanic Helper to provide support to the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC). The Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center provides centralized logistics support for all Coast Guard aviation missions. As the sole industrial complex for Coast Guard aviation, ALC provides depot level maintenance, engineering, supply, procurement, acquisition, and information services.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Aircraft Mechanics or Workers in servicing, repairing and overhauling aircraft and aircraft engines.
  • Adjust and replace parts to include control cables, fuel tanks, spark plugs, tires, batteries, and filters.
  • Using mechanic’s tools, removes inspection plates, cowling, engine covers, floorboards and related items to provide access for inspection and repair, and replaces items when work is completed.
  • Assist in towing and jacking aircraft.
  • Disconnect instruments, ignition systems, fuel and oil lines.
  • Assist in dismantling, repairing, overhauling or replacing parts and assemblies such as engines, plumbing and hydraulic systems, and aircraft structural sections.
  • Perform routine duties such as furnishing materials, tools and supplies to mechanics; lifting and holding materials in place during operation; cleaning work areas and machines, tools and equipment.
  • Clean aircraft, interior and exterior parts and assemblies with solvents, other cleaning solutions, or minor abrasive blasting.
  • Inflate tires, fills gasoline tanks and oil reservoirs, and greases aircraft, using grease guns.
  • Assist flight line mechanic, worker, or servicer in servicing and repairing aircraft prior to flight.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year aircraft related mechanical experience or be enrolled in a continued course of study toward an Aviation Technical School certification or an Aviation trade related degree or possess an Aviation Technical School certification or an Aviation trade related degree.
  • Ability to operate power and/or hand tools and equipment such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, micrometers, go-no-go gauges, multimeters, feeler gauges and tension meters.
  • Ability to use mechanic’s tools with minimal supervision.
